Graduate's Comments - Podology
I wanted to thank you for all the support you provided during my recent Podology course. I don't believe I have ever taken a course with a more comprehensive curriculum. Although the program was extremely intense, you and your staff provided outstanding support not only in the classroom setting, but by way of telephone tutorial as well in an effort to ensure my success.
It was a learning experience second to none. I would be pleased to recommend this training opportunity to others.
Again, thank you, Tracy.

Rossana C. Pod. (c) LPN
I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Podology program. I have been provided with a wealth of information which enables me to feel confident in pursuing a career in this field.
The course content was well organized, in-depth and very interesting. Teaching of course material was re-inforced in a positive environment with lot of opportunity for feedback. Instructors were friendly, approachable and always available for questions. There is no doubt that 15-20 hours a week of study time is required in order to successfully complete the program.
I would, without a doubt, recommend the Podology program. I feel comfortable going forward and poviding care knowing that there will be a support system available for me if I have any concerns.
Thank you for providing me with this life enhancing opportunity.
Sincerely,
Tammy Pod. LPN
I thoroughly enjoyed the Podology Program, including Podology I and II.
It was a difficult course that required a lot of studying and hard work. I do feel that you prepared us for the course and that you provided wonderful support through e-mails and on the phone tutorials. I am amazed at how much I learned in a relatively short time.
I was very impressed with the tool kit that was supplied for our practicum. We were generously supplied with everything that we needed to go out and preactice our foot care.
I found the curriculum interesting and know that I will apply all that I learned, in my day to day foot care practice.
The exams were fair and relevant to the course materials.
Thanks for all your selp, support and encouragement Tracy. I feel confident going forth in pursuing my new career as a Podologist.
Sincerely

I feel the correspondence regarding the course was excellent, whether course materials, emails, faxes or telephonce calls were all timely and thorough; before, during and after classes. I consistently knew what was going on and what was expected of me.
I feel the curriculum was very thorough. I really liked having the pre-course study fill in the blanks and felt they helped everyone come to the course at somewhat the same level.
The teaching was good, it was full of review and brought everything we had brought to class into perspective.
The kit was a really nice touch. Thank you for all the hard work that goes into putting those together though. So much better than receiving a list of items to bring to class!
The clinical practice was great. It was great to work on people we didn't know. The instructors were beneficial and kind while helping us to learn what to do and what not to do.
I feel the exams were both perfect, well made. The level of testing was perfect for the level of the course.
I liked the location in that there was no battling traffic and it was close to a number of hotels etc.
All in all it was a great experience and even though it was difficult at times and required a lot of study and work, I am glad I took the course.
Thank you for all your hard work.

Thank you for the learning opportunity. I was going to start by saying that I'm sorry it took me this long to respond/evaluate the course, however, the delay has given me a better evaluation tool - practice!
It has been very busy with the increase in foot care bookings since my return. Equipped with the professional products, new instruments and techniques you taught us I have been more efficient/effective. It takes me less time now, and I can provide better quality care and more treatment/sessions. Ingrown nails, that I struggled with before, have just been so much easier to remove now that I have a better understanding of what to use and how to access the hook.
-So the proof if in the pudding- "Thank you", from myself and from my happy clients for that gift - "much appreciated".
The modular course was in-depth and involved work to keep up with and learn, relearn and review, but I think that gives it credibility. To succeed at it makes me feel more educated in the practice of podology. It feels better to achieve certification that I had to actually work for. Other classes, where certificates of attendance were given, never made me feel I had accomplished much it just meant I showed up. This certification will stand for real learning, testing and achievement - I feel more accomplished receiving it.
I have a added 6 new people to my foot care practice since my return from Calgary - word spreads fast!
"Thanks Tracy"
Sincerely,
Claudia C.Pod. (c) RN
I just wanted to write a note about the podology course. I took the course because I have always had an enjoyment in doing foot care for my patients over the years working in extended care.
I found the mlaterials sent to me to do self-studying at home to prepare for the classroom time, were very well layed out and covered everything you need to know about doing in-depth foot care for any type of client.
The instructors were very helpful at any time on the phone and in the classroom for making the material understandable and for making sure that as a student, you got what you were learning.
As part of the course, we got an awesome kit that contained all the beneficial tools and products you would need to start doing foot care services.
Also in part, when it came to the practical experience in class, it was very helpful to learn the proper ways of doing foot care and getting hands on experience. With the class being small, you get a lot of attention.
This course gave me everything I needed to know to start my own professional foot care practice.
I personally, as an LPN for the past 20 years would recommend this course to other professionals in this line of work to take. It has been a very rewarding experience for me and I couldn't have asked for a better course outline that this.

The course content was excellent and extensive. I left feeling fairly confident in my abilities to perform safe foot care.
The instructors were knowledgeable and delivered information in a way that was condusive to learning. They have also made themselves available to answer any questions or help with problems even after the course was completed.
The facility was roomy and adequate for our purposes.
I f a nurse is interested in education improve her/his knowledge and clinical skills to provide better care for his/her clients, I would strongly recommend this course.

I've had the opportunity to complete the course of study in Podology offered through Career Designs Private Vocational School. This program offers an extensive and highly detailed curriculum as well as intensive hands on clinical experience. I can honestly say I have a greater understanding of the many varied foot disorders that can arise from improper foot care. I'm also now very confident in my own skills and ability to deal with all levels of foot care as a result of the exceptional training both practical and in theory and I received from the instructors.
Through my medical employment, I've been providing foot care for the past five years. This in-depth course of study has rekindled an enthusiasm for this aspect of my profession. The program has brought new insights, one being the correct use of an electric drill (Dremel) to file down a thickened toenail to normal thickness.
I'm looking forward to implementing these new skills and ideas with my own clientele. I would strongly recommend this course of study to any nursing professional with an interest in providing medical foot care or with a desire to expand their existing knowledge base and enhance their clinical skills.

The course material was well written, easy to read and easy to understand. The instructor had a wealth of knowledge and always addressed if quetions arose. I particularly liked the fact that most of the theoretical component was "home study". This was good, because most of the class time was spent on looking at complicated foot problems and actually doing hands on work.
I especially liked the fill in the blanks and reasearch questions.
Podology I set the pace for what would be involved in Podology II. The part of the course that was beneficial for me was doing foot care on family members when we finished Podology I. Between Podology I and Podology II, I had 6 clients that had complicated foot issues. Once you started doing the hands on foot care, it got easier.
I especially liked the small class size, as everybody received individual attention.
I think providing a complete foot care kit was very beneficial. This for me was one of the best things about the course. Having the kit in the Podology I gets you familiar with the instruments and files and their use.
Charting for me was challenging and a real eye opener. There is a tremendous amount of detail that must go into the charting including the patient consult form, diargrams and the the narrative notes. However, the charting proved to be very important.
The Podology program is well taught and that material that is included is sufficient: adding anymore would make it too complicated.
I believe having hands on experience in class is a vey good idea, as this is where you can really "fine-tune" your skills. The instructor was knowledgeable and you could tell she was very passionate about what she was teaching. This was reflected in the school expecting all aspects of training at an exception level of standards with regards to ethics, knowledge and clincal skills and the instructor assisting every student to achieve that level. As with Podology I, in Podology II we had to do 3 more clients. I also liked when we practiced on each other. These 3 days is where we had the opportunity to ask questions and again practice our skills with instructor supervision and guidance.
As a Registered Nurse, taking this course was a refresher for me. I had already taken basic and advanced diabetic foot care courses in the past along with 2 weeks 1-1 with a Podiatrist. However, this course had more material and it was very comprehensive, plus it gave the confidence to continue doing foot care again.
The aspects that I really enjoyed about this course were the foot care kit, the small class size and the instructor. Having to do foot care in one's own community gives you hands on experience. Practice is what makes a person perfect. The more one practices the better their skills will be. The instructor was always available and more than willing to assist in any way possible. She was fair and gave many opportunities for people to succeed.
I have already started doing foot care on the diabetic clients and I am now able to do more in-depth clincal foot care and patient education with them. Foot care has always been a key part in my teaching, but now I have added nail care as well.
My clients are very pleased with the service that I am now able to provide. As with any training, it always enhances a person's career and their work. The Podology course has enhanced my career beyond words. I feel more comfortable and confident at doing more complicaterd diabetics. The most important thing that the intstructor taught was that when situations are beyond our scope, appropriate referral is necessary.
Finally, the last component that was helpful was learning about using the Professional product lines of Foot Care Products.
One other major benefit of this course is it opens many doors for people who want to explore opening their own foot care practice.

The curriculum was full of relevant information needed for the program and had a lot of information to back up the rationale. If it had all the informatin needed it would not have been a course worth taking, the research work involved for the fill in the blanks made it worth while to take. Separating my objectives and having the relevant information for that particular topic made it easier to understand.
The location was convenient and close to all amenities. Very quiet classroom, there were no interruptions. It was one of the better classrooms I have been to, and a geat college.
I did learn all I needed to in the hours we were there. The practicum was informational and I had three clients with problem feet, which I was quite happy about.
All of the instructors were very helpful, made me comfortable like I belonged there. Made me feel like I was going to achieve my goal, which was to receive my Certificate. I never had a doubt with their positive encouragement. It's one of the best courses I've taken.
It was a very comfortable environment, THANK YOU.
It was interesting when the Kinesiologist/Pedothist did the teaching on the biomechanics and the orthotics. It gave you a bigger picture and better understanding why feet become problem feet.
The clinical practicum was very informative and gave me a chance to do actual hands on. I got to use the equipment such as the dremel and now feel confident to use it.
I definitely would recommend this program to other collegues and or students. If their plan is to provide Foot Care in their health facility, then this is the course to take. Giving them that extra information and making a recommendation to the Pedorthist, it would give them that extra understanding as to why their feet are the way they are and take those measures to prevent further problems.
