Prerequisites - 4 Months PCA PROGRAM
Minimum 18 years of age.
Preferably a High School diploma, verified by transcript, with 50% or better in Grade 10 English or Non - Alberta equivalent . or High School Equivalency Diploma ( GED ) or
Mature Admission ( 20 yrs of age or older ) At Least 33 credits towards a High School diploma, with at least 50% in a grade 10 English and with a successful result on and aptitude test administered by Career Designs. or
Career Designs assessment with satisfactory results ( Canadian Grade 10 reading/writing level required ).
Applicants who's first language is non English:
Must present a minimum score of 530 written, or 197 on the computer test of English as
a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam.
or
Achieve satisfactory results on the Personal Care Attendant Program entrance examination.
Physical Fitness: Must be physically capable of lifting and moving patients.
Provide a Passing Statement of Health from a Physician.
Police Security Clearance is required by all students prior to start of the Program; no exceptions. ( $30.00 fee paid by the student directly to the Police Department )
Personal Interview - Students must complete a successful interview with school administration.
Applicants must be emotionally stable, caring, reliable and enjoy working with people of all ages.
Updated Immunization Record - including Hepatitis B injections and Mantoux Test
Prospective students interested in the Personal Care Attendant Program are advised that the program is demanding both physically
and mentally and stamina will be required for success.
